4 arrested with 1 SMG, Tk 1.4 million in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar
Joint forces have arrested four people, including a sub-machine gun and 1.4 million taka, in a raid on the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. They were arrested in a raid on the C-6 block of the Rohingya refugee camp in Balukhali 11 in the upazila on Sunday evening.

The four arrested are Mansur Ahmed (32), son of Nur Bashar (32), of the C-14 block of the Rohingya refugee camp in Balukhali 9; Yasir Arafat (35), son of Md. Nazimuddin (35), of the C-16 block; Md. Anas (30), son of Md. Yusuf (30), of the E-block of the Rohingya refugee camp in 11; and Kefayet Ullah (35), son of Syed Ahmed (35), of the C-6 block. All of them are members of the robber gang Nabi Hossain Bahini, according to law enforcement agencies.
Police said that the raid was conducted after receiving information that members of the Nabi Hossain Bahini had brought a shipment of foreign weapons to the refugee camp. Upon receiving the information, the police, APBN and the army jointly conducted a raid around a house in the refugee camp. At that time, one person escaped from the house, but four people were arrested. A sub-machine gun and 1.4 million taka were recovered in the raid. The arrested people were taking the weapon to Nabi Hossain’s hideout. The recovered money was also stored for arms transactions.
Police officials said that Nabi Hossain is one of the main leaders of drug and arms smuggling on the border. Having formed a force in his name, he has been controlling criminal activities in the border area and Rohingya refugee camps for a long time. He has been working as the main commander of the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA) for a year.
